Whilst my little piece of whimsy in the about section is true, it's slightly vague and undetailed so I thought I would do an official "about" post in the rare event that someone who I don't know in person actually comes to this site :D.
It did actually all start off with an obsession with buttons, I don't really know where it sprang from but it was quickly spiralling out of control as I was rapidly running out of space to store them. Thus enters my love of making things and I decided that I should actually use the buttons for something. At around about the same time I receive a phone call from a close friend who is planning a fashion show and thought it would be a good idea for me to launch my own bag business. I accepted quite hesitantly as a million thoughts were running through my head, I can't make bags?! I can't even sew properly?! At this point in my life I had only ever made two bags in my life and they weren't exactly based on a pattern or anything they were both just experiments, the first being the sewing bag I mentioned in my first post and the second a small purse thingy with a zip. My sewing skills were all self taught or picked up from my mum who had is an avid seamstress, and whilst I had been to sewing classes I had to stop half way because of uni demands. However I had acquiesced to my friend’s suggestion and so began my first venture into actual proper bag making towards the tail end of 2008.
Now the fashion show planning started of with a bang, we had high hopes for it, which over time kinda fizzled out into nothing until the whole thing was postponed (read cancelled). Similarly I had gone into the whole bag making thing head first and went out and bought all the equipment and fabrics etc I needed to make a ship load of bags and purses only to bring it home, push it all to one corner of my room and forget about it. But of course when you make plans with your friends you twist them and contort them into every conceivable shape only to end up going with the original plan so after cancelling the fashion show it was inevitable that it was to be put back on again albeit in a slightly different format. Thus it was, that a fashion show was to take place at Manchester Metropolitan university on the 18th of December and yours sincerely was to provide the bags and purses....well most of them anyway....
