Taking decent photos of my bags was a very laborious process. After searching on Google, the general consensus among the online community seemed to be to construct a simple “light box” to place your product in and snap away. Seemed pretty simple. So off I went to search for a cardboard box in the garage and a large white sheet to drape over it. Once I had everything I went to my room and tried taking pictures of a few bags in various positions in my room. Now maybe it’s me being too picky but after about two hours I was getting pretty fed up. None of the photos seemed to be showing the bags in a good light, some were shadowed, some were too bright, some of the colours weren’t showing up right etcetera. So I pretty much gave up and ignored the problem hoping it would go away…
After a few days of musing over my photography predicament I decided I didn’t really want a white sheet as…well it was boring to put it bluntly, but at the same time I wanted a white background as all colours show up against white. Then my eye wondered to my floor, it turns out the answer had been right under my feet all along, I grabbed a bag and my camera and got on my hands and knees. My cream faux fur rug was the perfect backdrop for the pictures, it was cream yet it had texture and interest and would mean that each picture I took would have a consistent background. Whats more is that i don't even have to fiddle around with the light much as plenty of natural light falls on my rug from the window. Pah! who needs a light box...
